Shipments jump in February!
Exports in February were 6,542 tons compared to 4,671 tons last year, an increase of 40%
Exports year to date are 45,182 tons compared to 53,846 tons last year, a drop of 16%
Shipments surged in February as importers started to cover requirements for the second half of the season.
Increased demand, and dwindling supply over the past month has pushed prices significantly higher.
Bloom has started in the low lying areas, about 2 weeks ahead of usual, this is regarded as risky by growers and traders and will likely keep prices firm through the end of the frost risk season in May. It remains to be seen if there will be any decent fruit left after May.
